Back in March 2017, a team of four talented students represented LSA in The Gazette Young Engineers competition 2017. The competition was hosted by Blackpool and The Fylde College for the 5th year now and it is sponsored by Cuadrilla Resources and Centrica. The competition put their STEM skills to the test in the challenging task to design and fly model aircraft. Despite the difficulties, the students were delighted to have won the fantastic title of 'Young Engineers 2017', taking the prize money of £10, 000 back to school with them.
On Wednesday 15th November 2017 we welcomed some representatives from The Blackpool and Fylde College, Cuadrilla Resources, Centrica and The Gazette who came to see how we invested the prize money. The money was spent on a few 3D printers and a crumble controller which teaches students about components and designing a circuit, these develops on their previously learnt skills from primary school.
The winners from this year along with a few other students had the chance to meet with the organisations and be featured in the filming of the promotional launch video for the Young Engineers competition 2018.
