Core Subject Information
In Years 10 and 11, all students will study a compulsory core of subjects made up of: English Language English Literature Mathematics Science (Combined Science or Single Sciences) Core Physical Education (non examination) Religious Studies (non examination) LIFE (non examination). LIFE is covered during form time and flexible learning days. It includes Personal and Social Education, Careers, Economic Wellbeing and Citizenship. Law, Politics and Society (non examination)

PSHCE (LIFE)
During the Life lessons, students will receive important careers education, information, advice and guidance so that they have high aspirations and clear progression routes after Year 11.

Religious Studies (non examination) The course will also study a range of personal, social, health and care issues such as relationships, respect, tolerance and global issues including religion.

LAW, POLITICS AND SOCIETY (NON EXAMINATION) In Years 10 and 11 Pupils will study Law, Politics and Society for 1 lesson per fortnight. This is a non examination subject and covers the National Citizenship Curriculum for Key stage 4 students. Pupils will study a range of topics under the following headings: Democracy: Parliamentary democracy and the key elements of the constitution of the United Kingdom, including the power of government, the role of citizens and Parliament in holding those in power to account, and the different roles of the executive, legislature and judiciary and a free press. How laws are made? What is the role of the Prime Minister and Cabinet? Participation: The different electoral systems used in and beyond the United Kingdom. The actions citizens can take to influence decisions locally, nationally and beyond. The political spectrum. Law: Legal rights and responsibilities. How Juries work, Bail, the court hierarchy, What do judges do?, Judicial Precedent and the powers of the police.

Core Physical Education (non examination)
You will be able to choose to take PE GCSE or Sport Studies as one of your options. However, whether you choose it as an option or not, you will have one lesson of practical Physical Education each week.

Important Information
It is extremely unlikely, but still possible, that the subjects offered may be subject to review should there be any changes in Examination Board specifications or staffing. Parents, carers and students will be informed if any changes need to be made. Students, parents and carers should understand, that subjects chosen will be studied until the end of Year 11. There is no facility to change or drop a subject.
