A theatre workshop came to LSA to teach some of our drama students about physical theatre and how to can be used to create a powerful message. The students studied pieces of work from the Holocaust and were then given them opportunity to act our what they had prepared. After this, the students were invited to watch the members of the workshop perform the play that they had been studying that day.
Study of the Holocaust presents unique challenges and opportunities for both teachers and students. The Holocaust has immense historical significance and considerable contemporary relevance, but it is not an easy subject to teach about: teaching methods that are used for other topics may not be suitable or wholly effective for such a complex and sensitive event.
